Slitter Operator - 3rd Shift

Responsibilities
- Comply with all company and safety policies and procedures
- Attains and maintains all defined job objectives related to the planning and execution of all jobs and quick changes
- Cook with supervisor to maximize the quality and efficiency of make ready, runs, maintenance and general work
- Gather and stage all job components prior to the job coming to the slitter
- Review job bag and understand work instructions for changes, special instructions, and any other pertinent information
- Set up and verify correct unwind position, size/height/width, specified footage, label amount and/or diameter during make ready
- Evaluate and adjust the machine to achieve size and good alignment to rolls
- Monitor/detect irregular cutting and/or winding, maintain proper tension and maintain the integrity of the finished roll
- Monitor upkeep, change shear and razor blades
- Identify and remove defects on printed rolls
- Splice cut ends per customer specs
- Complete core roll tags per customer specs and identification of partial rolls
- Pack per job specifications
- Complete daily/weekend shutdown
- Comply with quality assurance specifications of the customer and MCC
- May be required to complete quality assurance sheet and associated documentation
- Complete rework as needed
- Responsible for cleanliness of machinery and organization of the workspace
- Responsible for working overtime when needed and as assigned
- Related duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Knowledge of Slitter machines preferred
- Previous machine operator experience
- Problem solver
- Ability to communicate and interact well with others (verbally and written form); seen as a team player
- Ability to read and understand a job ticket
- Ability to read a ruler and understand measurements (able to pass a ruler test)
- Ability correctable to 20/20 (able to pass an eye test)
- Ability to differentiate colors (able to pass a color test)
- Ability to input data in the computer
- Ability to work in a team environment with a high sense of urgency for on-time completion of assigned activities
- Self-motivated with the ability to stay focused and follow instructions
- Ability to stand and move around Flexo Finishing area for long periods of time
- The physical demands require standing, using hands to feel and touch; reach with arms and hands; talk and hear. This position requires frequent walking.
- Occasionally employee is required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
- Must be able to regularly lift or move up to 50 pounds
