As a part of an overall manufacturing team, learn and assist with all aspects of slitting and rewinding at the highest quality levels. Assist in other areas when needed.
Responsibilities
- Learn how to operate slitter and the rewinder as a member of the Production Team who is multi-skilled and cross-trained on all department process equipment.
- Develop process troubleshooting including visual defect detection.
- Read and understand work orders for current jobs and upcoming jobs including specifications.
- Maintain accurate paperwork, SAP/PDC functions for jobs.
- Perform quality checks and make slitter and rewinder adjustments during start-up.
- Perform quality checks periodically throughout the run and adjust the slitter accordingly to ensure zero defects to the customer.
- Perform daily and periodic cleaning and preventative maintenance in order to maintain standards throughout the manufacturing area.
- Observe and make recommendations on all issues regarding safety, quality, waste, and production.
- Monitor product quality, obtain and measure samples.
- Learn all measurements and begin identifying and resolving visual defects and finish rolls that do not meet customer quality specifications.
- All other duties appropriate to the position as assigned or required.
Requirements
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to write simple correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
- Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Basic knowledge of computer software and functions, including PDC and SAP functions.
Physical Demands
- Regularly required to stand; use hands and fingers to handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.
- Frequently required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Must be able to work a 12-hour shift.
