About the role

The Sleep Technologist is a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT). The Sleep Technologist promotes and delivers competent, quality care, and is highly experienced in all aspects of Sleep Center operations.

Responsibilities

  • Perform nighttime sleep testing and EEGs.
  • Assist with scoring of sleep studies.
  • Maintain competent performance in all aspects of sleep study acquisition, scoring, and treatment modalities.
  • Adhere to all Sleep Center policies and procedures.
  • Practice in accordance with normal sleep center practice, regulatory agencies, and the patient’s plan of care, condition, and needs.
  • Participate in QA/QI projects as requested.
  • Use inventory of supplies judiciously.
  • Adhere to equipment cleaning protocols.
  • Assist in the evaluation of capital budget item supplies.
  • Model the ASPIRE values.
  • Proficient in the use of AIDET.
  • Assist co-workers as needed/requested.
  • Support the Medical Center’s Mission/Vision/Philosophy positively.
  • Assist with daily operations of the Sleep Center.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
  • Perform other essential duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT).
  • Current AHA or Red Cross BLS certification required.
  • Experience working as a Night Shift Sleep Technologist preferred but not required.
  • Experience working in a Sleep Clinic setting preferred but not required.
  • Experience performing routine EEGs preferred but not required.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work within established policies, procedures, and practices prescribed by the hospital/clinic.

Physical/Mental Requirements

  • Ability to sit and stand intermittently for 8 to 10 hours a day.
  • Ability to use standard office equipment, including telephone and computer keyboard.
  • Works under pressure of near 100% accuracy while meeting inflexible deadlines.
  • Utilizes manual/bi-manual dexterity, near vision, speech, and hearing continuously.
  • Frequently stands, walks, sits, and utilizes eye/hand coordination and color definition.
  • Occasionally reaches above shoulder.
  • Regularly required to lift and/or carry up to 40 lbs.
  • Occasionally walks on uneven surfaces.
