About the role

The Polysomnographic Technologist Supervisor is responsible for organizing, administering, and supervising the efficient functioning of the Sleep Lab. They provide technical expertise, supervise staff, and collaborate with physicians to ensure high-quality care.

Responsibilities

  • Directly supervises the work activities of the Polysomnographic Technologists.
  • Supervises the work of the Sleep Center's Business Associate.
  • Participates in the selection and training of employees; makes recommendations regarding hiring, terminations, discipline, and changes in employment status.
  • Ensures desired patient care outcomes through safe and efficient resource utilization.
  • Affirms and assists in the development of a unit budget to ensure cost-effective, quality care.
  • Attends budget/financial meetings regarding the sleep center.
  • Collaborates in implementing and evaluating clinical training and education programs focused on infants, children, and adolescents with altered sleep states.
  • Recognizes trends requiring treatment for polysomnograms, conducts multiple sleep latency tests, scores, performs CPAP/BIPAP/TRACH polysomnograms, and instructs others on proper procedures.
  • Maintains appropriate Continuing Education Units (CEUs) and attends educational opportunities.
  • Serves as a liaison between patients, their families, and YNHCH staff, ensuring the successful execution of customer service standards.
  • Collaborates with leadership to market the sleep lab, promoting its visibility within the organization, community, and state.
  • Collaborates with YNHH leadership and Pediatric Pulmonary leadership in reviewing, revising, and implementing evidence-based practice standards, policies, protocols, and guidelines, as well as patient/family and staff educational materials for the care of patients with altered sleep states.
  • Maintains appropriate CEUs and attends educational opportunities.
  • Assists and participates in special activities such as outreach programs, special projects, and school-based health programs.

Requirements

  • At least an Associate's Degree (Bachelors Preferred) in a health care related field.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Progressive leadership experience (such as providing and evaluating clinical training programs, scoring and reporting, collaboration with physicians, etc).
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing needs.
  • Flexible hours.

Qualifications

  • Education: Associates Degree in Health Care related field (Bachelors Preferred).
  • Licensure: RPSGT.
  • Experience: At least five (5) years clinical practice experience in pediatrics with demonstrated leadership experience required.
