About the role
The Polysomnographic technologist works under the general supervision of the medical director or designee to provide comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders including in center and home sleep apnea testing, diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, comprehensive patient care and direct patient education.
Responsibilities
- Operates under the general supervision of the medical director or designated authority, providing comprehensive assessment and treatment for sleep disorders.
- Includes in-center and home sleep apnea testing, diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, patient care, and education.
Requirements
- Advanced expertise, typically acquired through five or more years of polysomnography experience and RPSGT certification, is required.
- High school diploma or GED and a minimum of 4 years of experience working with sleep patients.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.
Qualifications
The sleep technologist should be registered in sleep technology or be eligible to sit for the registry exam within 6 months of hire.
