About the role
South Lawrence East Elementary School is seeking exceptional Second Grade Sped teachers to join our team who possess a growth mindset, value collaboration and continuous feedback, are passionate about their content, and have an unwavering belief that all students are capable of meeting rigorous academic expectation.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Create and teach daily lesson plans aligned to district curriculum
- Implement strategies to promote high-quality student performance in both academics and behavior
- Maintain discipline and a safe, respectful classroom environment in accordance with school and district policies
- Create a classroom atmosphere that supports learning and reflects the maturity and interests of students
- Demonstrate best practices in teaching and model correct use of oral and written language
- Take appropriate precautions to protect student records, school materials, and facilities
- Report student injuries, accidents, illnesses, and disciplinary concerns promptly to school administration
- Assign reasonable and purposeful classwork and homework
- Remain on-site during the entire school day unless excused by the Principal or designated representative
- Demonstrate punctuality, reliability, and professionalism
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal or their designee
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Demonstrated success working with multilingual learners and students with learning differences
- Strong instructional planning and classroom management skills
- Ability to foster meaningful relationships with students and families
- Familiarity with culturally responsive teaching and inclusive classroom practices
- Effective use of formative and summative assessments to guide instruction
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
- Commitment to professional growth and continuous improvement
- Proficient in English; bilingual candidates highly valued
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree required
- MA Teaching License preferred
- Experience with diverse student populations preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated commitment to equity and high expectations for all students
