Responsibilities

  • Assess and evaluate senior residents’ needs for exercise and fitness
  • Work with residents individually and in groups
  • Plan individual fitness programs for participating residents
  • Supervise or present exercise programs that may include exercises in pool or other high-risk areas
  • Assist team members with orientation to Fitness Center, procedures, and policies
  • Produce promotional materials, newsletters, flyers, etc. as required
  • Inspect, clean, and maintain equipment
  • Maintain records of residents’ progress
  • Assist with collecting data and reports for fitness activities as required
  • Provide in-service trainings as required
  • Work in collaboration with other professionals to provide appropriate assistance to residents
  • Promote the Mission, Vision, and Values of Transforming Age in all areas of responsibility
  • Perform administrative functions for the department
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in an exercise-related discipline preferred, or the equivalent combination of education and experience (3 or more years of fitness-related experience)
  • National Fitness Certification required (ACSM preferred, but not required)
  • Experience in prescribing exercise to special populations preferred
  • Must be able to demonstrate proper uses of the exercise equipment
  • Completion of a background check, may also include drug screen, physical, fingerprint, and TB test as required by state/local guidelines
  • First aid training and CPR per state/local guidelines may be required

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to physically assist in safe exercise and the safe operation of the equipment
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull up to 75 lbs

Pay

$24 - $30 per hour, DOE
