Responsibilities
- Assesses and evaluates senior residents’ needs for exercise and fitness.
- Works with residents individually and in groups.
- Plans individual fitness programs for participating residents.
- Supervises or presents exercise programs that may include exercises in pool or other high-risk areas.
- Affords assistance to team members with orientation to Fitness Center, procedures, and policies.
- Produces promotional materials, newsletters, flyers, etc. as required.
- Inspects, cleans and maintains equipment.
- Maintains records of residents’ progress.
- Assists with collecting data and reports for fitness activities as required.
- Provides in-service trainings as required.
- Works in collaboration with other professionals to provide appropriate assistance to residents.
- Promotes the Mission, Vision, and Values of Transforming Age in all areas of responsibility.
- Performs administrative functions for the department.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in an exercise-related discipline preferred, or the equivalent combination of education and experience (3 or more years of fitness related experience).
- National Fitness Certification required (ACSM preferred, but not required).
- Experience in prescribing exercise to special populations preferred.
- Must be able to demonstrate proper uses of the exercise equipment.
- Completion of a background check, may also include drug screen, physical, fingerprint, and TB test as required by state/local guidelines.
- First aid training and CPR per state/local guidelines may be required.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to physically assist in safe exercise and the safe operation of the equipment.
- Must be able to lift, push, pull up to 75 lbs.
