About the role

Join our team specializing in Manufacturing at the Cummins Inc. facility in York, SC. In this role, you will contribute to safety, quality, maintenance, and continuous improvement efforts that drive operational excellence and sustainable practices.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure safety by stopping work and reporting major injury hazards immediately.
  • Maintain compliance by adhering to HSE standards and reporting work-related injuries, illnesses, incidents, or hazards.
  • Promote a safety culture by using personal protective equipment and looking out for colleagues.
  • Minimize environmental impact by recognizing and reducing negative effects of your work.
  • Uphold quality assurance by applying high standards of workmanship and performing quality inspections.
  • Support equipment uptime through preventive, emergency, corrective, and predictive maintenance activities.
  • Drive continuous improvement by identifying and reducing manufacturing constraints, solving problems, and participating in improvement activities.
  • Communicate effectively with your team and participate in training and development.
  • Gather all parts for each axle prior to welding by reading the parts list on the schedule.
  • Weld parts to axles by hand, adhering to process and procedure instructions in the Work Instruction Manual.
  • Dispose of non-conforming parts by completing and attaching the appropriate forms.
  • Inspect welds for defects through visual inspection.
  • Record the number of axles welded in the Hour-by-Hour Chart.
  • Verify individual axle information by comparing the metal tag on the axle with the customer truck ticket and schedule.
  • Move axles to the conveyor using a rotating machine.
  • Place your individual welder’s stamp mark on each axle.
  • Prepare for internal audits by reviewing and familiarizing yourself with Working Instruction Manual processes.
  • Review the daily schedule, noting required parts and highlighting unusual details.
  • Operate various pneumatic tools and hoists as required.
  • Perform minor maintenance and material handling tasks related to rear axles.
  • Maintain excellent housekeeping and assist other team members as needed.
  • Perform multiple functions per day to support material flow.
  • Complete welding and assembly tasks in a timely manner.
  • Train new welders as required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or certificate of completion of secondary education, or equivalent experience meeting applicable regulations.
  • Some manufacturing and assembly knowledge.
  • Forklift experience preferred.
  • Experience with tools.
  • Ability to hand weld rear axles.
  • Must provide your own small hand tools as required by the team.
  • This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
