ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure work/assignment areas are clean and store equipment, tools, supplies properly.
- Perform cleaning procedures in accordance with infection prevention and control guidelines.
- Clean rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, break rooms, and other work areas to comply with state/federal regulations and facility policies.
- Clean and disinfect equipment and supplies using germicides or sterilization procedures as directed.
- Maintain awareness of the environment for potential hazards while performing routine housekeeping tasks.
- Prioritize housekeeping requests involving safety issues and/or time-sensitive projects, such as pre-arrival room checks for new admissions and spills.
- Clean vacant rooms as assigned, document cleaning and sanitation services according to facility policies.
- Ensure proper disposal of infectious waste into appropriate containers as required by state/federal regulations and the facility's infection prevention plan.
- Service trash receptacles regularly to prevent overflow.
- Label or mark personal articles of clothing with identifying information as needed.
- Coordinate daily laundry service with nursing services when performing routine assignments in resident living areas.
- Collect, sort, and weigh soiled laundry, linens, garments, and place them in appropriate containers or assigned areas; maintain sanitary conditions and separate clean from dirty items.
- Distribute clean laundry, linens, garments to residents daily or as instructed during emergency conditions.
- Avoid missing articles of clothing or personal items of residents and report findings.
- Maintain an adequate supply of laundry/linen supplies in laundry/linen closets to meet the daily needs of the residents; replace worn items in accordance with facility policies and protocols.
- Perform specific tasks in accordance with daily work assignments.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in Long Term Care or Assisted Living industry, preferred.
- Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
- Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
- Must function independently and have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with residents, personnel, and support agencies.
- Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a minimum height of 5 feet and be able to push, pull, move, and/or carry such a weight a minimum distance of 50 feet.
- May be necessary to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations.
