Skilled Laborer/Collector - Highway/Sanitation Division
About the role
The Town of Natick's Public Works Department seeks a Skilled Laborer / Collector to join their team. This position involves curbside trash and recycling collection, operating light and heavy equipment, performing manual labor in road maintenance, and winter sidewalk snow and ice clearing. Work is supervised by Foreman and General Foreman.
Responsibilities
- Curbside collection of trash and recycling
- Operate multiple pieces of light and heavy equipment
- Manual physical labor in roadway maintenance operations
- Winter sidewalk snow and ice clearing
- Drive CDL vehicles and other medium/heavy equipment (with training)
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid Massachusetts Class D Driver’s License; CDL preferred or ability to obtain within 6 months upon hire
- Three (3) years of experience in construction, landscaping, building maintenance, or related field
- Sign Making/Line Striping Experience is a plus
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds, work in all weather conditions, and perform physically demanding labor
- Familiarity with the operation of light and heavy-duty equipment
- Strong work ethics and ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Effective communication skills with both coworkers and the general public
Qualifications
- Successfully completed a Cori check and DOT pre-employment physical including a drug screen
- Hoisting license or other relevant certifications
- Experience with municipal or public works operations

Compensation
$24.5240 per hour at Step 1. The full pay scale ranges from $24.5240 - $33.2152 per hour, with step increases outlined in the union agreement. This full-time position includes a lucrative benefits package, including health, dental, vision, life insurance, a defined contribution retirement plan, and more.
