Skilled Laborer - Civil

About the role

The Skilled Laborer performs a variety of field construction and maintenance tasks under the supervision of higher-level employees. Work involves assisting crews with general labor, equipment operation, job site preparation, and supporting extra workloads, absences, and vacations, as well as unusual changes in the production area or weather conditions. The position is primarily outdoors and requires clothing appropriate for changing seasons and weather conditions. Traveling out of town to work on remote job sites may be required as directed by management.

Responsibilities

• Assists crews with general labor, equipment operation, job site preparation, and supporting extra workloads, absences, and vacations, as well as unusual changes in the production area or weather conditions.
• Works in outdoor environments with exposure to heat, cold, noise, and dust.
• Performs work at various construction and maintenance sites, including remote locations.
• Frequent travel to remote sites and occasional overtime or weekend work.
• Must always wear company-required PPE, including a hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, a high-visibility vest, and steel-toed boots.
• Completes tasks in various field environments with physical strength, balance, hand-eye coordination, and stamina.

Requirements

• Must be 18 years of age.
• Valid state driver’s license required.
• Must complete OSHA 10 safety training within 30 days of hire if not already held.
• Must have completed OSHA 10 safety training prior to or at promotion to Skilled Laborer III.

Qualifications

• Education : High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Certifications : OSHA 10 safety training required.
• Driver’s License: Valid state driver’s license required.
• Physical Requirements: Prolonged standing and walking. Ability to lift and carry up to 80 pounds and push and/or pull 50-pound loads. Manual dexterity to operate a variety of hand and power tools. Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions and tolerate exposure to typical jobsite noise, dust, and odors.
