Skilled Facility Medical Director - Primary Care Physician - MD - DO

About the Role

In this clinical physician lead role, under the supervision of the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), you will have several clinical responsibilities along with specified administrative duties. You will provide day-to-day clinical care to residents in facilities and homebound patients while practicing and role-modeling ethical and evidence-based decision-making to promote the company’s vision and mission among other practitioners and staff.

Responsibilities

• Provides high-quality complex and geriatric care to residents and patients across settings in partnership with non-physician practitioners and other interprofessional team members for an identified panel of patients in assisted living and skilled nursing facilities.
• Maintains high engagement with facility leadership teams, nurse practitioners/physician assistants, patients, and families.
• Serves as a collaborating physician for an average of 5 but up to 15 nurse practitioners and physician assistants (based on state regulatory parameters) to support them in their clinical roles.
• Audits up to 10% of practitioner medical orders and/or documentation for each provider monthly, in accordance with state and regional regulatory frameworks.
• Assumes medical directorships for skilled and/or other senior living facilities, if needed.
• Helps identify new growth opportunities with skilled facilities and/or other senior living facilities in the market/region.
• Participates in company frontline/backup call processes to respond timely to acute changes in condition, preventing avoidable hospital transfers or meeting other clinical needs.
• Maintains a high focus on quality outcomes, including care path compliance, productivity, prevention of avoidable transfers, and reduction in polypharmacy and costs of care.
• Attends required trainings and meetings as mandated by the CMO or other leaders to ensure best care delivery by the company.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of medicine and holds a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree.
• Two or more years of administrative leadership experience in healthcare.
• Seven or more years of clinical medical experience preferred.
• Board certification in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Geriatrics; Geriatrics qualification preferred.
• Active, unrestricted licensure to practice in the state of employment.
• Current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration.

Pay

Salary Range: USD $200,000.00 - $250,000.00 per year.
