About the role
The City of Richmond Hill Police Department offers a Military-to-Law Enforcement SkillBridge Academy to support transitioning service members in their career transition.
Responsibilities
- Gain academic knowledge and practical skills necessary for a career in law enforcement.
- Build leadership experience and professional competencies.
- Prepare for certification through the Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training Council (POST).
- Be prepared for employment as an entry-level law enforcement officer.
Requirements
- Active duty military service members must be eligible for the DoWSkillBridge Program and be qualified for a SkillBridge administrative leave period.
- You may be eligible to participate if you have 180 days of service (no less than 19 weeks) remaining prior to your date of military discharge and have completed at least 180 continuous days of active military service.
- Obtain approval from your unit commander.
- Able to meet current requirements set forth by the Peace Officer Standards and Training Council for the State of Georgia.

Schedule
- Training program duration: 19 weeks, offered once every 3 - 4 months throughout the year.
