SkillBridge Fellowship - Transitioning Military

Information TechnologyFull-time

About the role

MTSI proudly participates in the Department of War (DoW) SkillBridge Program, offering eligible transitioning service members the chance to gain civilian work experience while completing their military service. Founded in 1993 by two retired U.S. Air Force engineers, MTSI is a 100% employee‑owned company with veterans making up roughly 40% of the workforce. The program offers two pathways: Hiring Our Heroes (HoH) Fellowships – scheduled cohort‑based fellowships, and MTSI Off‑Cycle Fellowships – direct participation outside the HoH schedule for greater flexibility. Applicants submit information about their military experience, career interests, preferred location, and transition timeline; if alignment is found, the Talent Acquisition team may connect to explore possible fits, identify an appropriate training opportunity, and, if selected, begin the fellowship. The fellowship is designed to help fellows translate military experience into a civilian environment, develop new skills and relationships, and explore potential for continued full‑time employment with MTSI; submission does not guarantee placement.

Responsibilities

During the fellowship, you can expect to:

  • Apply and build upon skills developed throughout your military career.
  • Gain hands‑on training and experience in a civilian work environment.
  • Learn new tools, technologies, processes, and ways of working.
  • Receive mentorship, feedback, and professional development support from MTSI employees.
  • Build relationships with professionals across MTSI, many of whom have made the transition from military service.
  • Explore how your skills and interests may align with a long‑term career at MTSI.

Specific training activities and experiences vary by fellowship and are structured in accordance with SkillBridge requirements and the applicable training plan.

Requirements

MTSI SkillBridge fellows must meet applicable DoW and military service eligibility requirements and receive approval through their service and chain of command. Additional requirements vary by fellowship and may include location, education or experience, security clearance, site access, and other requirements tied to the specific training opportunity. MTSI aims to identify opportunities with strong potential to lead to full‑time employment; participation does not guarantee an offer, and future employment depends on successful completion of the fellowship, mutual fit, an available position, and applicable position requirements.
