Ski Patrol III - Full-Time (Seasonal)

Key Job Requirements

• Ski patrol refresher training required.
• 4 full seasons of Ski Patrol experience.
• 2 full seasons of Solitude Ski Patrol experience.
• Pro 1 Avalanche Certification.
• Ability to lead avalanche mitigation routes.
• Ability to lead and perform high span lift evacuation and summit taglines.
• Ability to lead and perform knot passing and hauling rope systems.
• Approved Avalanche Rescue Leader.
• Approved Accident Site Commander.
• Ability to lead and perform backcountry rescues.
• Expert level of leadership, guest interaction, and judgment progression list.
• Current EMT or OEC certification required.
• EMTs must be licensed in UT.
• Current BLS CPR.
• Current ATF explosive employee possessor permit.
• 3 years of avalanche mitigation experience at a class "A" resort preferred.
• Ability to work effectively with others and maintain professionalism under stress.
• Strong understanding of ski resort operations.
• Expert understanding of Solitude Mountain Resort terrain and mountain orientation.
• Adequate sight, speech, and hearing to perform duties, follow and provide instructions, and communicate via radio.
• Basic computer skills.

Additional Skills & Certifications

• Ability to work in inclement weather in a high alpine environment.
• Ability to reason and respond effectively in emergency situations under high stress.
• Manual dexterity to operate rescue and safety equipment.
• Ability to lift, maneuver, and carry at least 50 pounds, both on foot and while skiing or riding.
• Proficient and safe skiing ability to operate a loaded toboggan (250 lbs. or more) downhill in varying snow conditions and terrain.
• Basic computer skills.

Physical And Operational Qualifications

• Adequate sight, speech, and hearing to perform duties, follow and provide instructions, and communicate via radio.
• Basic computer skills.

Essential Job Duties

• Provide emergency medical care and patient transport via toboggan or snowmobile in varied terrain and snow conditions.
• Operate snowmobiles safely and efficiently.
• Participate in lift evacuations, cliff rescues, high-angle rescues, and search and rescue operations, including night missions.
• Assist with dispatch operations and maintain professional radio communication.
• Document incidents accurately and promptly.
• Provide guest assistance and participate in regular medical and rescue training.
• Cook with Wasatch Backcountry Rescue when applicable.
• Maintain mountain safety systems including signs, markings, fencing, and rope lines.
• Evaluate mountain conditions, identify hazards, and promote guest safety through education and policy enforcement.
• Conduct end-of-day mountain sweeps.
• Maintain rescue equipment and supplies in ready condition.
• Transport supplies and heavy equipment to needed locations on skis or on foot.
• Assist with special events or other projects as directed by resort management.
• Maintain clean and organized shared workspaces including clinic, locker room, storage areas, and top stations (interior and exterior).
