About the Role

Manages all aspects of the Ski & Board School.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the operation of the ski school departments.
  • Develop and implement curriculum and training for all staff per PSIA guidelines.
  • Organize and schedule group and private lessons through the Ski School Office.
  • Maintain pre- and post-season communications with staff and administration.
  • Perform duties of subordinates as needed.
  • Assist in efforts outside primary responsibilities, including subordinate roles, due to variables like weather and guest volume.
  • Conduct weekly safety meetings and inspections in line with company safety policies.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Manage three subordinate supervisors overseeing 5–55 employees in Ski School Office and Outside Operations.
  • Directly supervise one non-supervisory employee.
  • Interview, hire, and train employees; plan, assign, and direct work; appraise performance; reward and discipline employees; address complaints and resolve problems.

Requirements

  • Minimum age of 21.
  • Preferred PSIA Level II or III, examiner certification, or 1–2 years of related experience/training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
  • Strong communication, guest relations, leadership, and management skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to delegate and maximize staff talents.
  • China Peak Mountain Resort On-Duty Skier/Snowboarder Certification to Level 3 skills.
  • Valid California Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record.
  • Preferred PSIA Level Certification.

Physical and Environmental Demands

This role is classified as Level 2 (MEDIUM) for physical and environmental demands. Work venues include steep stairways, multi-level buildings, and outdoor areas subject to cold, wet, or sunny conditions. Walking surfaces are frequently frozen, sloped, and slippery. Proper footwear is required indoors and outdoors. Workdays and hours vary, with emphasis on weekends and holidays.
