About the role
The award-winning Brooklyn Park Recreation and Parks Department is seeking a Skating Lesson Aide to assist with skating lessons. The position works under the supervision of the Community Activity Center (CAC) Facility Coordinator and collaborates with the team to deliver high-quality programs.
Responsibilities
- Work with the CAC Facility Coordinator to run an effective and efficient program
- Start work session on time
- Interpret and apply skating rules and principles
- Maintain order and ensure participants follow the program plan
- Report any incidents and assist with completing required reports
Requirements
- 14 years of age or older
- Previous skating experience
- Knowledge of and thorough understanding of skating principles
- Ability to interact with participants in a responsible and professional manner
- Effective communication skills and response with tact and courtesy
- Ability to maintain order and security
- Experience working with youth
- Proven ability and demonstrated commitment to an inclusive workplace related to racial equity, diversity, and inclusion
- Ability to provide exceptional customer service
- Desired qualifications include fluency in Spanish, Hmong, Russian, Somali, Lao, or Vietnamese languages
Qualifications
- Education and Experience: 14 years of age or older, previous skating experience, knowledge of skating principles, ability to interact with participants professionally, effective communication skills, ability to maintain order and security, experience working with youth, proven ability and commitment to an inclusive workplace, ability to provide exceptional customer service, fluency in Spanish, Hmong, Russian, Somali, Lao, or Vietnamese languages (desired)
