About the role
The Skate Instructor is responsible for instructing and coaching ice skating at the Plymouth Ice Center.
Responsibilities
- Ensure skating instruction is provided in accordance with the ISI progression program.
- Support a successful skating program that engages participants and contributes to program growth.
- Provide instruction to skaters of various ages and skill levels.
- Ensure lessons are organized, engaging, and focused on proper skating techniques.
- Monitor the well-being and progress of all participants throughout lessons.
- Maintain a safe, supportive, and positive environment for all skaters.
- Participate in strategic planning and program meetings.
- Maintain open and effective communication with the Skating Director, coaches, participants, parents, and arena staff.
Requirements
- Must be at least 16 years of age.
- Must have successfully passed the skating level assigned to instruct.
- Must be able to demonstrate all skills required for the level assigned to teach.
- Must be available to work weekend hours.
- Must be detail-oriented and organized.
- Must be self-motivated and able to work independently.
- Must demonstrate positive and effective communication skills with participants.
- Must understand, or be able to learn, effective teaching techniques and proper skill progression.
Qualifications
- Prior skating or teaching experience is preferred.
