About the role
The Sizing Technician operates a limited number of grinding, crushing, and screening equipment to produce specific size or variety of size pieces and powders of chemicals according to route cards. This position involves operating work centers, setting up equipment, maintaining machinery, and handling reactive materials.
Responsibilities
- Operate work centers involved in grinding and crushing material, and screening materials to proper size
- Follow route cards and supervisor's instructions
- Bag, package, weigh, and label materials
- Maintain Sizing equipment, including performing preventative maintenance as scheduled
- Operate a dry box work center that handles air or moisture sensitive materials
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 1-year industrial or relevant experience, preferred
- Able to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds at shoulder height
Qualifications
- Exposure to low concentrations of fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, acid, and bases
- Occasionally works with reactive material and may be exposed to low-level radioactive materials and extreme heat
Skills
- Ability to operate grinding and crushing equipment
- Knowledge of preventative maintenance procedures
- Experience with dry box operations
