Sizer
Responsibilities
- Operate equipment including large/small expanders, presses, and welders.
- Install sizing rings and bars for heat treatment.
- Use hydraulic jacks for precise sizing.
- Interpret job prints and measure parts to spec (OD/ID).
- Choose appropriate dies and tools for the job.
- Identify when hot sizing is required and ensure proper heating per router.
- Understand measurement tolerances and sizing expectations.
- Recognize and respond to material flaws or sizing exceptions.
- Maintain product traceability throughout the process.
- Verify materials match job routers and that prior steps are signed off.
- Use measuring tools accurately (tape measure, calipers, rulers).
- Perform lift truck inspections and operate trucks safely.
- Provide direction to helpers when needed.
- Assist other departments as needed to meet production goals.
- Complete assigned tasks on time and report any issues to the Supervisor.
Qualifications
- Basic knowledge of sizing and shaping processes.
- Ability to speak, read, and write in English (Spanish a plus).
- Strong measuring skills; must read tape measures accurately.
- Willingness to learn and grow in die/tooling technologies.
Education and/or Experience
- High School diploma or GED (or 1 year of related training/experience).
- Forklift experience preferred.
Physical Demands
- Regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle or feel and talk or hear.
- Frequent sitting.
- Occasional reaching with hands and arms, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
- Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- The work environment can vary in noise level.
