About the role

As the Site Supervisor 1 at Angels Camp Head Start, you will play a pivotal role under the guidance of the Children's Service Manager, ensuring the smooth operation of the center in compliance with all applicable policies and regulations. Your leadership will inspire a team focused on creating a safe and supportive atmosphere for children to thrive.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations, including supervising teachers.
  • Plan and execute engaging activities that foster a nurturing classroom environment.
  • Conduct parent/teacher conferences.
  • Manage volunteer support.
  • Ensure compliance with all performance standards, community care licensing, and state regulations.
  • Handle staff scheduling and conduct performance appraisals.
  • Mentor team members and provide training according to established job descriptions.
  • Promote team collaboration and address concerns through corrective action.

Requirements

  • Child Development Site Supervisor Permit AA (or equivalent).
  • Minimum of 60 college units, including:
    • 24 semester units of Early Childhood Education or Child Development.
    • 6 units of Administration.
    • 2 units of Adult Supervision.
  • At least two years of experience working with preschool-age children (ages 3-5).
  • Two years of supervisory experience.
  • Preventative Health Card or completion of a Health, Safety, and Nutrition class.
  • Experience working effectively with minority and low-income families, and adults at all levels of the socioeconomic structure.
  • Knowledge of the needs of rural children and their families.
  • Ability to interact with children in a supportive and non-judgmental way in accordance with Head Start Performance Standards.

Skills

  • Effective communication skills in English (bilingual proficiency in Spanish preferred).
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with staff and community members from varied backgrounds.
  • Capability to adapt to changing situations and needs with flexibility and sensitivity.
  • Proficiency in basic arithmetic (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages).
  • Ability to read and comprehend work procedures, safety rules, and other materials.
  • Strong writing skills for reports, observations, and documentation with proper spelling, grammar, and format.
  • Positive attitude towards children, families, and staff.

Pay

$20.42 to $21.75 per hour.
