About the Role

This supervisor reports to the Residential Manager and provides direct programming and support services to individuals with developmental disabilities. They supervise residential staff assigned to the individual’s home.

Responsibilities

  • Performs in-home training with Direct Support Professionals and handles related household chores, supplementing individuals' training and addressing incompetency.
  • Transports individuals as needed and operates vehicles safely.
  • Ensures proper ordering and dispensing of medication as ordered by the physician.
  • Implements medical treatments as ordered by the physician.
  • Attends in-service training programs and staff meetings as scheduled.
  • Ensures and supervises the safety, health, and well-being of all individuals.
  • Prepares nutritious meals and reports unusual incidents or medical situations.
  • Performs first aid and other nursing procedures as trained.
  • Maintains individuals' personal and household possessions in good repair.
  • Maintains household files for compliance with state and federal standards.
  • Oversees and participates in the provision of direct care.
  • Supervises assigned employees, including recommendations for assignments, transfers, promotions, and disciplinary actions.
  • Evaluates employee performance and implements Individual Service Plans with the interdisciplinary team.
  • Supervises and implements the service checklist.
  • Ensures thorough and accurate documentation of services.
  • Coordinates and ensures proper medical treatment as directed by physicians and nursing staff.
  • Maintains the implementation of CQL (Council on Quality and Leadership) standards.
  • Accurately accounts for resident funds and expenditures.
  • Performs in-service training for employees within the home as identified in the ISP (Individual Service Plan).
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent; Associate’s Degree preferred.
  • Two years of experience working with developmentally disabled individuals; supervisory experience preferred.

Qualifications

  • Multimedia First Aid certification.
  • CPR certification (adult, child, and infant).
  • Delegated nursing certification.
  • Valid Ohio Driver’s License from the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles.

Skills

  • Must be able to communicate in English, both spoken (face-to-face or over the phone) and in writing.
  • Detail-oriented with competent literacy, writing, documentation, communication, and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to use tools and equipment as required, including pushing/pulling wheelchairs and lifting individuals with hoyer lifts.
  • Responsible for on-call duties for assigned groups.

Physical and Environmental Requirements

The physical activities for this position involve:

  • Balancing, stooping, pulling, pushing, standing, kneeling, reaching.
  • Lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs.
  • Crouching and crawling.

The essential sensory and communicative activities include:

  • Feeling, seeing, speaking, hearing.

Environmental conditions when performing duties may include:

  • Inside and outside environmental conditions.
  • Exposure to blood and bodily fluids.
  • Potential interaction with combative residents.
