Site Reliability Engineer, Compute
About the role
The Production Engineering Team at Fluidstack is responsible for owning and operating one of the largest GPU fleets in the world. Key responsibilities include building and maintaining the metrics pipelines, alerting, and unified health view for the entire compute fleet. The team also builds and owns the automation for compute failures, designs and expands the GPU qualification platform, and ensures end-to-end reliability, scalability, and operation of the fleet.
Responsibilities
- Build the metrics pipelines, alerting, and unified health view for the compute fleet.
- Build and own the automation for compute failures, including detection, triage, parts management, and return to service.
- Design and expand the GPU qualification platform, including burn-in, performance baselining, and NPI execution for every new GPU generation.
- Own Redfish and BMC tooling, including firmware-level telemetry, log collection at fleet scale, and low-level access layer for repair automation and health tooling.
- Ensure end-to-end reliability, scalability, and operation of the compute fleet at scale.
Requirements
- Treat toil as a bug and move toward ambiguity, not away from it.
- Learn at a steep slope and reach real competence in unfamiliar domains fast.
- Carry a pager without flinching and run the incident, write the postmortem, fix the systemic cause, and move on.
- Be fluent with AI tooling such as LLM APIs, MCP servers, and agentic frameworks, and drive Claude Code, Cursor, or similar daily.
- Ship production automation that other teams depend on and be comfortable in any language using AI coding tools.
Qualifications
- Exceptional hardware knowledge and comfort reasoning about failure modes at the firmware and silicon level.
- Experience with AI tooling and production automation.
- Fluency with Go or Python.
- Experience with BMC/Redfish or IPMI tooling.
- Experience with GPU qualification or burn-in frameworks.
- Experience with workflow and orchestration engines (Temporal, Cadence).
- Experience with metrics and alerting pipelines (Prometheus, Grafana).
Skills
- Strong understanding of hardware and firmware.
- Experience with AI tooling and production automation.
- Proficiency in Go or Python.
- Experience with BMC/Redfish or IPMI tooling.
- Experience with GPU qualification or burn-in frameworks.
- Experience with workflow and orchestration engines (Temporal, Cadence).
- Experience with metrics and alerting pipelines (Prometheus, Grafana).

Pay
The base salary range for this position is $175,000 - $300,000 per year, depending on experience, skills, qualifications, and location. This range represents our good faith estimate of the compensation for this role at the time of posting. Total compensation may also include equity in the form of stock options. We are committed to pay equity and transparency.
