Responsibilities
- Provide behavioral health screening of detainees referred by facility staff or identified through the booking process or nursing services.
- Provide individual and/or group psychoeducation and skills-based interventions.
- Assist custody and medical staff in monitoring behavioral health for referred detainees.
- Coordinate with custody and medical staff in the management and treatment of detainees with behavioral health concerns.
- Monitor and assess therapeutic support of segregated and isolated detainees.
- Support and supplement county behavioral health services in stabilizing at-risk detainees.
- Coordinate with county behavioral health services for continuity of care, discharge planning, and case management by sharing pertinent patient information.
- Complete documentation and maintain records for referral tracking and continuous quality improvement (CQI).
- Facilitate training on behavioral health-related topics as requested.
- Supervise direct reports to deliver quality patient care, including conducting orientation, skills evaluation, and quarterly coaching.
- Monitor and approve staff time sheets to ensure accuracy.
- Partner with medical staff and management teams to facilitate teamwork and accomplish organizational goals.
- Demonstrate commitment to providing behavioral health support and training designed to solve problems and improve lives.
- Ensure correctional facility policies and procedures are accessible for behavioral health staff.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Master’s Degree in a behavioral/social science field (e.g., Psychology, Social Work) from an accredited college or university.
- Current licensure with clinical specialty in the state from the appropriate state licensing board.
- CPR certification (must be obtained prior to hire and maintained while in this role; hands-on or online certifications accepted).
- Valid driver’s license and ability to drive a motor vehicle.
- Must be able to practice independently.
