Teaching
- Actively precept as teaching physician in the resident outpatient clinics.
- Include patient care aspects and procedural skills, as well as time management skills, doctor-patient relationship, professionalism, ethical and legal considerations, and billing and coding.
- Serve as mentor to family practice residents, meeting regularly to review rotation evaluations, chart notes, and provide counseling and advice.
- Counsel and advise residents on any problems or issues and document findings or results in their professional development folders.
- Conduct and supervise inpatient-teaching rounds.
- Develop and facilitate core curriculum conferences for the residency program.
Service
- Provide direct patient care to own panel of patients at the Center and at other off-site clinics as appropriate.
- Conduct procedure clinics as needed based on patient demand.
- Participate in family medicine hospital service and call.
- Participate in obstetrics and call associated with obstetrics.
- Attend faculty meetings and resident conferences.
- Present at national professional meetings.
- Maintain active membership in Family Medicine and Teaching Societies.
- Serve on the Center-wide Committees, as assigned.
- Serve on school and department committees, as assigned.
- Participate in community boards and outreach projects.
Administration
- Serves as the Site Medical Director for the SIU Center for Family Medicine Clinic in Decatur and oversees clinic schedules and targets for faculty providers.
- Recommends clinical objectives and the designation of priority objectives for the health center site.
- Maintains effective relationships with community providers to enhance services and outcomes for patients, ensuring coordination of care with community resources.
- Affords support for health center quality assurance and quality improvement efforts related to clinical services.
- Recommends and participates in final determination of disciplinary actions and terminations of clinical personnel.
- Ensures compliance with all regulatory standards; ensures quality patient care and appropriate provider productivity.
- Serves as the health center's primary medical representative in the community.
- Affords clinical direction and administrative oversight for the residency clinics.
- Develops, implements, and evaluates clinic policies and procedures to improve efficiency, productivity, patient satisfaction, and quality of care.
- Supervises clinic providers, including some advance practice professionals and behavioral health providers.
Research
- Conduct research in areas of particular interest and publish in referred journals.
- Complete a minimum of 2 scholarly activities every 5 years as required by RRC.
Qualifications
- Sensitive to the needs of underrepresented minority populations.
- Board Certified in Family Medicine, Graduate of an Accredited Family Medicine Residency Program, Licensed in the State of Illinois or eligible for Illinois licensure, and must possess a DEA.
- Experienced with providing services to multicultural populations.
- Demonstrates leadership in teaching, service, scholarly activity, and administration.
- Strong communication skills.
- Interest in quality improvement and clinical systems.
- At least five years of clinical experience.
Supplemental Information
The budgeted annual salary range is $250,750 to $275,825, representing the academic base salary only, which is funded through the University. The final academic base salary will be determined by a thorough assessment of available market data, internal salary equity, candidate experience and qualifications, and budget considerations. Additional clinical compensation will be provided separately through a member practice agreement.
