Medical Director

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Cook up medical care to ensure residents get proper care.
• Make sure residents reach or keep their best possible health.
• Ensure other doctors like Nurse Practitioners do their jobs right and follow the rules.
• Meet with people in charge to talk about the health and work stuff of the residents.
• Help plan and make changes to the medical and nursing plans with the boss and the nurse boss.
• Be ready to help out at night and during emergencies.

Required Skills

• Must have a valid doctor's license to practice medicine in the state.
• Must know how to take care of older people and how nursing homes work.
• Must know the rules that say what doctors can and can't do in nursing homes.
• Must be able to read, write, talk, and understand English.
• Must be able to deal nicely with people, families, visitors, and others.

Required Experience and Education

• Must have a Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO).
• Must have a current license to practice medicine in North Carolina.
• Must work in offices and around the facility.
• Must be ready to work extra hours and on weekends and holidays.
• Must be available to work nights and weekends.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements

• Works in offices and around the facility.
• Has to deal with interruptions often.
• Works with residents, families, staff, and visitors.
• Works outside regular hours and on weekends and holidays.
• Available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
