Site Manager, GEAR UP | Soap Lake High School (Soap Lake, WA)

Washington State University Tri-Cities GEAR UP program is now accepting applications for a Site Manager at Soap Lake High School in Soap Lake, WA. This is a full-time, temporary position ending July 31, 2027, with renewal dependent on funding and need.

About the Role

The Site Manager will oversee the strategic planning, administration, and management of the WSU Tri-Cities GEAR UP project at Soap Lake High School. The role involves managing an operating budget of $65,000-$95,000 annually and providing services to a cohort of approximately 1-149 students. The Site Manager will also supervise full-time and temporary/hourly employees.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage budgets
• Provide direct outreach services to students
• Coordinate and communicate with school administrators, teachers, staff, parents, students, area colleges, community members, organizations, and businesses
• Provide local leadership in program design, initiatives, supervision, and evaluation of staff
• Collect data documenting accomplishments and future needs
• Develop recommendations to improve program effectiveness
• Support key program components, including tutor training, career exploration, and post-secondary preparation

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and three (3) years of professional work experience in student services or related education/experience
• Experience leading or directing the work of others
• A Master’s degree in a related field may substitute for one (1) year of professional work experience
• Relevant full-time, professional experience in providing tutorial services, instruction, or direct outreach services to middle or high school students
• Experience promoting the success and achievement of students from all backgrounds
• Willingness and ability to travel overnight, work a flexible schedule (including nights and weekends), and occasionally transport and supervise students
• Proficiency in computers, Google Workspace, and Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, and Word)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience managing a government grant program in a middle or high school setting
• Experience developing and managing a budget
• Experience coordinating events and field trips for students
• Experience working with college readiness programs
• Professional experience motivating students from a variety of backgrounds and experiences
• Strong communication, team building, problem-solving, and conflict management skills
• Knowledge of community, educational, and social service resources in the district’s community

Pay

Monthly Salary: $4,496.52 per month

Schedule

This is a full-time (100% FTE), temporary, on-site/in-person role located in Soap Lake, WA. The position is overtime eligible and expected to end on July 31, 2027, with potential renewal based on funding and need.

Funded by the Department of Education, its purpose is to increase the number of low-income and underrepresented students who graduate from high school and successfully complete post-secondary education.
