Mersen is a global expert in electrical specialties and advanced materials for high-tech industries. Present in 32 countries with 50 industrial sites and 24 R&D centres, Mersen develops custom solutions and supplies key products to meet new technological challenges in sectors such as wind power, solar power, electronics, electric vehicles, aeronautics, and space.

Responsibilities

  • Supports the Site Director and Site Management Team to define budget and strategic initiatives and improve the financial performance of the site.
  • Ensures the quality of accounting and delivers adequate financial reporting within a robust internal control framework.
  • Regularly informs stakeholders (Segment/Business Unit) of the site’s financial performance, sales forecasts, and results.
  • Implements Group and/or Group Segment/Business Unit finance policies at the local level.
  • Oversees the Financial Controller of a second site.
  • Participates in site management meetings, explains financial results, and provides insight into financial KPIs.
  • Develops and implements Finance Action Plans with the Site Management team.
  • Prepares monthly reports for the Group Segment/Business Unit, explaining site performance in relation to business results, cash flow, and investment plans.
  • Assists the Site Director in optimizing costs, improving cash flow, and implementing action plans using appropriate metrics.
  • Participates in investment case studies and validates financial calculations.
  • Supervises the production of site budgets in accordance with Group Segment/Business Unit directions and implements relevant reports/metrics.
  • Prepares regular forecasts and participates in product/item re-costing, including monthly analysis of standard cost variances.
  • Handles internal Group reporting, statutory accounts, and tax returns, including complex accounting operations such as depreciations and provisions.
  • Facilitates relationships with auditors for the site under responsibility.
  • Prepares and records asset, liability, revenue, and expense entries by compiling and analyzing account information.
  • Maintains and balances subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, and reconciling transactions, resolving discrepancies as needed.
  • Maintains the general ledger by transferring subsidiary accounts, preparing trial balances, and reconciling entries.
  • Summarizes financial status by preparing balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other financial documents.
  • Supervises cash management and bank relationships.
  • Manages site taxes in collaboration with the Group Finance Department, consulting local expertise, especially for transfer pricing.
  • Informs the Group Finance Department of risks related to exchange rates and commodities.
  • Manages credit for the site under responsibility.
  • Protects organizational value by keeping information confidential.
  • Approves and sets up new suppliers.
  • Implements actions for internal control and prevention of significant financial and legal risks (e.g., contracts, litigation, trade barriers, guarantees).
  • Participates in the management of financial services at the site (organization, recruitment, training, etc.) in collaboration with the Group and Group Segment/Business Unit.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent.
  • 5–10 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in make-to-order or engineer-to-order settings, with strong knowledge of industrial/standard cost accounting.
  • Advanced Excel skills; ability to synthesize large amounts of data and derive meaningful insights.
  • Ability to work across functional lines with all areas of the organization.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently.
  • Experience with an integrated ERP system.

Pay

Salary range: $85,000.00 – $120,000.00.
