About the role

This role supports a new factory startup in Prince George, VA manufacturing large form-factor equipment. Key responsibilities include:

  • Building the operations and manufacturing staff
  • Fitting out the building
  • Creating process flow/work instructions

Responsibilities

Manage ME (manufacturing engineering) and IE (industrial engineering) activities focusing on operational metrics. Lead and manage engineering projects related to the new factory startup, including equipment selection, installation, and commissioning.

  • Design and develop manufacturing systems and procedures for assembly, testing operations, and future expansions
  • Lead engineering manufacturing equipment infrastructure deployment
  • Develop line layouts, process flow charts, simulation models, layouts, processes, line balancing, staffing models, and manufacturing quotes
  • Reduce manufacturing costs by optimizing processes and systems
  • Introduce new advanced manufacturing processes including automation
  • Define, develop, and implement ME and IE strategies supporting overall objectives, business development, and Jabil's strategic directions
  • Execute ME and IE activities in alignment with Jabil strategies, organizational goals, and technology roadmap
  • Create training tools, documents, and procedures for global baseline ME and IE competency training
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive project documentation, including engineering specifications, process flows, FMEAs, and work instructions
  • Hire, coach, mentor, and train site ME and IE resources
  • Support recruiting and retention of ME and IE talent
  • Develop and maintain ME and IE succession plans
  • Provide tactical support to resolve critical technical issues as required

Requirements

Education: Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing engineering or industrial engineering, or equivalent engineering discipline. Experience: 7+ years recent experience in electronics manufacturing industry, preferably in a large factory assembly manufacturing environment including 5+ years in engineering leadership positions.

Skills

Expert knowledge of engineering philosophies and processes. Demonstrated expertise in Manufacturing Support Systems and business process analysis. Understanding and application of broad range of industrial engineering tools (e.g., work measurement, simulation, process mapping, facilities and workstation design, operations research, etc.). Proven track record of successful change management accomplishments, implementing and managing continuous improvements and cost reduction programs. Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with good oral and written communication skills. Project management and team leadership experience with ability to work in a global matrix organization. Demonstrated ability to implement change and application of Lean and Six Sigma Methodology.

Benefits

The pay range for this role is $115,500 - $207,900. Job-related, non-discriminatory factors used to determine the actual offered rate include qualifications and experience, geographic location, education, external market data, and consideration of internal equity. Short-term incentive based on performance is available. Other benefits include medical, dental, prescription drug, and vision insurance plans; 401(k) retirement plan and employee stock purchase plan; and paid time off.
