About the role

Tetra Tech is seeking a Site/Civil Engineering Intern to support civil/site development projects in our Oakland, CA office. This role focuses on grading and drainage, stormwater systems, and utility design.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with site development design, including:
    • Grading and drainage plans using AutoCAD Civil 3D
    • Stormwater management and erosion control
    • Water, sewer, and dry utility layouts
  • Prepare construction drawings, reports, and calculations
  • Perform basic engineering analyses for site and infrastructure projects
  • Support quantity takeoffs and cost estimates
  • Aid in permitting documentation and agency submittals
  • Collaborate with engineers, designers, and project managers across disciplines
  • Participate in field visits or site assessments as needed

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
  • Basic understanding of site development principles (grading, drainage, utilities)
  • Exposure to AutoCAD or Civil 3D through coursework or internships
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with hydrology or hydraulics concepts
  • Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Interest in pursuing EIT certification after graduation
