Site Based Direct Service Respite Provider (DSRP)

About the role

Community Care is hiring for our site-based respite program, which provides support and assistance to family members or guardians caring for children with disabilities who have qualified for respite services. The anticipated start of this program will be in September. There may be an opportunity to begin employment earlier.

The Site-Based DSRP will be part of a team that provides appropriate care to children while families are provided a planned break. Respite services will be provided at the Community Care office on Saturdays, Sundays, and one weekday.

Responsibilities

• Provide support and supervision to a small group of children at an office-based Respite Site.
• Assist children with positive behavior and well-being while in their care.
• Exercise good judgment.
• Provide services as scheduled from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
• Complete Respite Daily Logs in accordance with program procedures and submit within 24 hours.
• Adhere to the agency's policies and procedures.
• Attend all scheduled supervisions, meetings, and trainings as assigned.

Requirements

• Minimum of 18 years of age or older.
• Minimum of a high school diploma/GED.
• At least 6 months of previously documented experience working with children/families.
• Must be able to pass background checks including DMV, CPS, APS, and Criminal checks.

Skills

• An understanding of normative child development.
• Ability to respond calmly and competently to crisis.
• Understanding of unconditional positive regard.
• Understanding of professional boundaries and ability to set appropriate limits.
• Understanding of the dynamics of working with children and families who have behavioral and emotional challenges.

Schedule

Respite services will be provided on Saturdays, Sundays, and one weekday from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
