About the role

The Simulator Maintenance Technician I is responsible for maintaining aircrew training devices such as the Weapon System Trainer (WST), Boom Operator Trainer (BOT), Fuselage Trainer (FuT), Part-Task Trainers (PTT), and Learning Center. Duties include troubleshooting, replacing parts, and documenting maintenance activities.

Responsibilities

  • Apply working technical knowledge to perform simple or routine tasks in support of work on various devices, while following detailed instructions.
  • Locate and replace defective parts in various subsystems down to the component level.
  • Use block, wiring, and schematic diagrams to trace basic circuits.
  • Maintain required documentation of maintenance activities.
  • Monitor and track the repair status of inoperative equipment and document maintenance activities.
  • Document maintenance activities, including work order generation and updates, repair action documentation, issuing, returning, and adjusting inventory, ensuring inventory records are up to date and accurate.
  • Conduct voice communications on phone, inter-phone, and radio circuits.
  • Maintain exceptional standards of instruction, knowledge levels, capabilities, and expertise.
  • Provide networking and information systems support on training devices and networks.
  • Learn device requirements, system design standards, tools, and procedures.
  • Implement basic modifications to existing simulators.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Completion of a civilian or military Electronics Principles course preferred.
  • An Associate’s Degree in an electronics field or completion of VoTech Simulator Maintenance Programs highly desirable.
  • One to three years of experience as a flight simulator technician, or equivalent in nature, desired.

Qualifications

  • Morally and ethically influence others to successfully achieve program goals.
  • Fluent in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with aviation/avionics systems desirable.
  • Working knowledge of electrical and mechanical theory.
  • Working knowledge of operating principles of digital and analog computers.
  • Working knowledge of component level testing and repair of circuit boards, instruments, and other ATS field replaceable units.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex and non-routine problems.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to interface with customers and staff effectively.
  • Ability to use a variety of common and specialized test equipment and tools.
  • Currently possess, or demonstrate the ability to obtain, a SECRET clearance.
  • CompTIA A+ Certification preferred or ability to gain the certification within 1 year of employee hire date.
