Position Overview
The Simulation Technician position at Galen College of Nursing supports and enhances simulation experiences for all learners. This role collaborates with program faculty to ensure quality and continuity in achieving course student learning outcomes (CSLOs) for all programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up, operate, store, maintain, update, and repair simulators, task trainers and other simulation equipment.
- Provide general support and troubleshooting for medical simulation equipment.
- Support Simulation Center users in the use of instructional media and equipment.
- Contribute to and maintain simulation equipment documentation.
- Prepare the simulation environment to represent the clinical setting.
- Create moulage to model physiologic responses to the scenario events.
- Maintain stock control, ensuring adequate security and levels of consumables and equipment are maintained.
- Ensure preparation and storage areas are maintained in a clean, safe, and orderly manner and comply with health and safety regulations.
- Demonstrate a general knowledge of adult learning theory.
- Support all aspects of the learning environment.
- Provide general technical support and troubleshooting for the audio-visual and IT system.
- Set up, operate, and store audiovisual and IT equipment.
- Demonstrate safe and effective operation of the audio-visual system and simulation equipment.
Position Requirements
- Education: Minimum of a technical diploma or associate degree from an accredited institution required.
- Experience: Affinity for a technical role (IT, A/V, Electronics/Computer building).
- Special Qualifications: Possess basic understanding of human anatomy and physiology or agree to enroll in course upon hire. Effective written and oral communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups of people. Attention to detail and follow through.
