Position Information

Hiring Department: College of Nursing
Reports To: Clinical Associate Professor
Job Location: El Paso, Texas (On Site)
Posting End Date: Open until filled. This posting may close once a sufficient number of qualified applications have been received.
Hours: 40 hours per week, standard Monday- Friday 8:00am- 5:00pm. Flexibility is required for early hours, evenings, and weekends.
FLSA status: Exempt
Earliest Start Date: As soon as possible.
Salary: $55,000 Annually.

Position Summary

The Simulation Networking Technician provides technical support for networking, simulation equipment and software, manages hardware and software, and assists with scenario development. Key responsibilities include setting up and maintaining networking, simulators, programming physiological changes, managing audiovisual equipment, performing technical maintenance and repair, and ensuring data integrity and safety protocols. These roles require a combination of IT, audio/visual, and healthcare-specific skills and knowledge.

Technical support and maintenance

  • Provide technical support and maintenance for simulation technologies, including manikins, task trainers, and related equipment.
  • Manage and install software and hardware upgrades.
  • Perform on-site maintenance, such as cleaning, parts replacement, and troubleshooting.
  • Conduct emergency repairs and maintain a record of all repairs.

Software and scenario management

  • Aid in programming software to simulate physiological changes and other medical scenarios.
  • Aid with the creation, revision, and updating of clinical simulation activities and scenarios.
  • Use/educate on software to run pre-programmed or spontaneous scenarios.
  • Manage and archive video and audio files from simulation sessions.

Audi ovisual and IT support

  • Set up and operate audiovisual equipment for live streaming, video recording, and reviewing simulations.
  • Manage and maintain IT assets, including desktops, laptops, and mobile devices.
  • Ensure data protection and the secure management of electronic data and programming.

Inventory and equipment management

  • Manage inventories of simulation equipment and supplies, including IT assets.
  • Receive, set up, and test new simulators and multimedia equipment.
  • Assist with the scheduling and tracking of simulation activities.

Perform other duties as assigned by the director and the Dean of the School of Nursing

Complies with all State and University policies.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor Degree in related field.
  • Experience: Three years related experience to the statement of duties and responsibilities.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist (CHSOS) certification preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology, human anatomy, and physiology preferred. Knowledge in programming languages C/C++ and Python.
