Simulation Lab Technician

About the role

The Simulation/e-Technology (Sim/e-Tech) Technician supports the School of Health Professions (SHP) by coordinating e-learning, healthcare simulation, and educational technologies. Working collaboratively with faculty, this role manages simulation spaces, operates scenarios, maintains specialized equipment, and manages the supply chain and inventory for the clinical learning and nursing skills laboratories.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support for computer hardware, software, networking (PC and Mac platforms), and virtual reality systems
• Maintain and troubleshoot simulation and audio-visual equipment
• Manage simulation spaces and operate scenarios
• Oversee supply chain and inventory for clinical learning and nursing skills laboratories
• Translate complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical users
• Travel between campuses and work sites as needed
• Perform other duties as assigned, including assisting in state-declared emergencies

Requirements

• Associate degree in a related field (e.g., Computer Science, Information Technology, Film, Healthcare/Medical Technology) OR an active healthcare certification (e.g., Paramedic, EMT, CNA, Respiratory Therapist, LPN) OR CHSOS certification
• Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered
• Proven experience with technical support for computer hardware, software, and networking
• Strong mechanical aptitude for equipment maintenance and troubleshooting
• Strong organizational, time-management, and interpersonal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in related fields (Computer Science, IT, Film, Healthcare)
• Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist (CHSOS) designation
• Professional clinical experience in an allied health field with knowledge of medical terminology, human anatomy, and physiology
• Advanced familiarity with standard audio-visual equipment (projectors, microphones, media players, etc.)

Pay

Hiring range is $68,000–$72,500, commensurate with education and experience.

This is a full-time, exempt position open to current J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College employees only. Telework options are available and subject to change based on business needs. Schedule will be provided by supervisor.
