Simulation Instructional Technology Specialist
About the role
The Simulation Instructional Technology Specialist supports application of learning strategies used in clinical simulation. They contribute to simulation creation, piloting, and revision. The role incorporates objective-based sim into programs and collaborates with faculty on projects.
Responsibilities
- Participates in daily operations of simulation equipment and software for simulation-based education of nursing students in undergraduate and graduate nursing programs.
- Assists with the development of the operational plan for healthcare simulation-based educational activities.
- Supports faculty, staff, and students in the use of simulation equipment and supplies when planning simulation activities for courses.
- Supports simulation educators/faculty and learners in the use of technical equipment used in simulation-based education.
- Provides training in the use of healthcare simulation-based technology to novice simulation operators/technicians, e.g., simulation equipment, software, supplies.
- Collaborates with departmental faculty and staff in the design and customization of simulation-based educational activities aligned with curriculum and assists in the development of operation and implementation plans for simulation activities.
- Aids in the planning, acquisition, application, and implementation of new simulation equipment, software, and supplies.
- Aids in the collection of data related to simulation equipment usage.
- Supports simulation sessions, trainings, tours, and events for internal and external groups and/or individuals.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor's degree in field and/or related field, such as Graphic or Instructional Design. Master's degree preferred.
- Experience: Two (2) years related experience which includes proficiency with audio/visual, multimedia, video production, or IT resources. Experience with simulation technology hardware healthcare simulation equipment, e.g. manikins, task-trainers, etc. and healthcare simulation software preferred. Experience as a simulation operator who can set up, operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair equipment applicable to simulation-based education (e.g. simulators, hospital-type equipment used in simulation activities, and AV/IT equipment used in simulation activities preferred).
- Certification/Licensure: Certified Healthcare Simulation Operation Specialist (CHSOS) preferred.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of hardware and software platforms used in healthcare simulation-based teaching.
- Knowledge of and ability to apply best practices in healthcare simulation.
- Skills in operating computers and peripherals used in the healthcare simulation environment.
- Ability to solve technical problems.
- Ability to work cooperatively with others and demonstrate professional, ethical, respectful, and courteous behavior when interacting with others.
- Ability to interact pleasantly and positively with others to meet customer expectations.

Pay
Hiring Range: $65,000 - $75,000 (commensurate with education and experience).
