SIMON | Concrete Finisher

Job Summary

Assists in tasks associated with concrete finishing such as smoothing and finishing surfaces on poured concrete and operating a variety of hand and power tools.

Main Responsibilities

• Embrace the Company's safety culture, actively support all safety initiatives, and adhere to defined accountabilities implemented by the Safety Steering and Continuous Improvement teams
• Support, promote, and practice the Company core values, vision, and mission; follow code of ethics, workplace conduct, safety, and other established policies
• Observe safety procedures, report potentially unsafe conditions, and use equipment and materials properly
• Signals concrete deliverer to position truck to facilitate pouring concrete
• Moves discharge chute of truck to direct concrete into forms
• Spreads concrete into inaccessible sections of forms with rake or shovel
• Molds expansion joints and edges
• Sprinkles colored stone chips, powdered steel, or coloring powder on concrete to produce prescribed finish
• Operate a variety of equipment including trucks, backhoes, air compressors, hydro hammers, jackhammers, pumps, loaders, concrete saws and mixers, hammer drills, generators and hand tools, and equipment
• Directs subgrade work, mixing of concrete, and setting of forms
• Breaks up and repairs old concrete surfaces

Education

• High School diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred
• Valid driver's license with ability to maintain a clean driving record required

Skills

• Minimum 3 to 5 years' experience in concrete finishing preferred
• Must be able to work out of town and weekends if needed

Physical Requirements

• Wears and maintains personal protective equipment (PPE) as required
• Regularly required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
• Regularly required to use hands to manipulate and handle objects
• Regularly required to communicate (talk and hear)
• Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, bend, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
• Standing/working on feet for long periods, and walking across uneven terrain
• Frequent exposure to loud noise
• Regularly exposed to all outdoor weather conditions, dust, and airborne particles
• Regularly exposed to fuel, oil, and other chemicals
