About the Role

This position is based at our Basin Ranch in Elk Mountain, Wyoming, with summer work at Basin Ranch and winter work at our Encampment, WY ranches. Responsibilities include irrigation and the yearling operation.

Housing and a generous benefit package are included.

Responsibilities

• Irrigation (pivot systems)
• Yearling operation management
• Fence repair
• Equipment operation and maintenance
• Feeding and livestock handling (feed truck driving, pen riding, cowboy duties)
• Farm and ranch technical tasks
• Ability to work as part of a team or independently

Internship Program

Silver Spur Ranches offers highly competitive internships for students pursuing careers or advanced degrees in agriculture-related fields. Internships are paid ($1,000/month) and last a minimum of 10 weeks, including furnished housing (interns provide their own linens and food). Housing may be shared with other interns.

Applications for 2026 internships open December 1, 2025, with a deadline of December 15, 2025. Teleconference interviews are held in January and February, with potential second interviews in Encampment, Wyoming, during March or April. Travel to Wyoming for the second interview is mandatory and at the applicant’s expense. Interns may be placed at any Silver Spur location in Wyoming, Colorado, Nebraska, or New Mexico.
