About the role

SEPTA is seeking candidates for a Signals Maintainer Trainee position in our Communications and Signals Departments. This is a two-year training program that prepares you for promotion into a Signal Maintainer role. Signal Trainees/Maintainers repair, maintain, and test signals including cable, electrical, and mechanical equipment apparatus on SEPTA City, Suburban, and Regional Railroad lines.

Responsibilities

• Repair, maintain, and test signals including cable, electrical, and mechanical equipment apparatus on SEPTA City, Suburban, and Regional Railroad lines.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Minimum of two years in the Electrical or Mechanical/Electrical fields or a Technical school degree in Electrical or Electro-Mechanical disciplines.
• Knowledgeable in areas of Electrical or Electrical-Mechanical Maintenance.
• HVAC knowledge and training is preferred.
• High School diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver's license and access to a car required.
• Must successfully complete a written test in the areas of electricity and electronics.
• Must be willing to work various hours and shifts, including weekends and holidays.
• Ability to obtain a Commercial Driver's License during the training period.

Pay

• SEPTA City Transit Division: $37/hr (increase to $41/hr after 12 months).
• SEPTA Suburban Transit Division: $36/hr (increase to $40/hr after 12 months).
• SEPTA Regional Railroad Division: $34/hr (increase to $36/hr after 12 months).

Candidate division selection will be based on the needs of SEPTA.
