About the role
LanguageLine Solutions is hiring a Sichuan Yi-English Phone Interpreter to work remotely from home. This is an independent contractor position and not eligible for employee benefits.
Responsibilities
- Handle interpreting sessions promptly and professionally.
- Render accurate translations of conversations between Sichuan Yi and English speakers.
- Conduct interpreting sessions in a quiet and secure environment.
- Adapt to various industries including healthcare, insurance, finance, and law.
- Ensure confidentiality and respect cultural differences.
- Provide services during high-stress and emotionally charged calls.
Qualifications
- Fluency in Sichuan Yi and English with cultural understanding.
- Excellent listening, retention, and note-taking skills.
- Ability to remain calm and neutral during interpreting sessions.
- Experience in language-related fields preferred.
- Proficient in relevant industries' terminology.
- At least 18 years old and legally authorized to work in the US.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to read and write English and Sichuan Yi.

Technical Requirements
- Dedicated personal device for business purposes.
- Desktop/Laptop computers with Windows, MacOS, or ChromeOS.

- Restricted brands: Kaspersky products, Huawei hardware.
- High-speed internet connection with minimum speeds of 5 Mbps download, 3 Mbps upload, 300 ms ping, and 30 ms jitter.
- Quiet workspace free from background noise or distractions.
Physical Requirements
- Able to operate a keyboard and mouse for extended periods.
- Manual dexterity to type or write.
- Able to lift up to 26 lbs.
- Exposure to moderate noise levels.
