Sichuan Yi Interpreter

About the role

LanguageLine Solutions is hiring a Sichuan Yi-English Phone Interpreter to work remotely from home. This is an independent contractor position and not eligible for employee benefits.

Responsibilities

• Handle interpreting sessions promptly and professionally.
• Render accurate translations of conversations between Sichuan Yi and English speakers.
• Conduct interpreting sessions in a quiet and secure environment.
• Adapt to various industries including healthcare, insurance, finance, and law.
• Ensure confidentiality and respect cultural differences.
• Provide services during high-stress and emotionally charged calls.

Qualifications

• Fluency in Sichuan Yi and English with cultural understanding.
• Excellent listening, retention, and note-taking skills.
• Ability to remain calm and neutral during interpreting sessions.
• Experience in language-related fields preferred.
• Proficient in relevant industries' terminology.
• At least 18 years old and legally authorized to work in the US.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to read and write English and Sichuan Yi.

Technical Requirements

• Dedicated personal device for business purposes.
• Desktop/Laptop computers with Windows, MacOS, or ChromeOS.
• Tablets (iPadOS or Android).
• Smartphones (iOS or Android).
• Restricted brands: Kaspersky products, Huawei hardware.
• High-speed internet connection with minimum speeds of 5 Mbps download, 3 Mbps upload, 300 ms ping, and 30 ms jitter.
• Quiet workspace free from background noise or distractions.

Physical Requirements

• Able to operate a keyboard and mouse for extended periods.
• Manual dexterity to type or write.
• Able to lift up to 26 lbs.
• Exposure to moderate noise levels.
