About the Role
Kimball International Logistics Services truck drivers are responsible for the on-time, damage-free delivery of Kimball products. KIT fleet employees focus on safety and adhere to all DOT regulations.
Responsibilities
- Move trailers between Kimball locations, requiring frequent coupling and uncoupling of trailers during the shift.
- Deliver finished product to customers within close proximity to Jasper, ensuring protection of both the driver and the product.
- Act as “ambassadors of the company” toward customers and actively participate in managing customer relationships.
- Self-manage and take responsibility for delivering products within company and customer expectations.
- Maintain a professional attitude, appearance, and commitment to all aspects of safety.
- Commit to ongoing training to uphold the reputation of professionalism, quality, and service associated with Kimball drivers.
- Read and understand maps and routing guides, and take responsibility for customer directions.
- Access voice mail daily and learn Kimball International locations and lots.
- Cover for Yard drivers as needed, jockeying multiple trailers in and out of docks at the warehouse using a yard truck.
- Offload freight according to customer requirements and ensure on-time, damage-free delivery.
- Understand and utilize methods to secure cargo, such as load locks and straps.
- Report overages, shortages, and damaged pieces to the supervisor.
- Operate equipment within KI guidelines for safety, courtesy, and fuel efficiency.
- Follow KI-specific accident reporting procedures for vehicular incidents and Workers Comp.
- Attend and participate in safety, operational, maintenance, and other required training meetings.
- Keep equipment clean, perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections, and manage maintenance breakdowns on the road.
- Hook and drop trailers properly and safely, fuel the truck, and practice preventive maintenance.

Technical Skills
- Meet all DOT regulations, including licensing, inspection, and logging requirements.
- Follow DOT regulations for accidents, physicals, hours of service, and drug testing.
- Maintain a clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) and possess a valid Class A CDL license.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
- Knowledge of equipment operation and maintenance, including fueling and preventive maintenance.
- Knowledge of cargo management and customer service.
- Capable of managing emergency situations with a commitment to safety.
