Classified, 9-month position requiring a high school diploma or equivalency.
Responsibilities
- Assists the driver with the safety, movement, management, and care of children boarding, leaving, or being transported on the vehicle.
- Ensures students remain seated while the vehicle is in motion.
- Seats self in an area on the vehicle to observe all passengers and enforce vehicle safety rules.
- Monitors and addresses problems between students, including assigning seats to keep them separated.
- Ensures children take their belongings when departing the vehicle.
- Maintains a high standard of student conduct at all times.
- Communicates student concerns to the Transportation Coordinator.
- Works with the Transportation Coordinator to maintain accurate route information.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
- Frequently required to sit, walk, and stand.
- Occasionally lifts up to sixty (60) lbs.
- Requires reaching, standing, walking, carrying, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, sitting, and/or crawling.
- Must have the ability to hear and see to communicate effectively, as well as communicate clearly and concisely.
- Maintains mental capacity for effective interaction and communication with others.
- Performed under some temperature extremes and conditions with exposure to risk of injury and/or illness.
Schedule
Split hours: 6:30am – 9:30am and 2:00pm – 5:00pm, Monday through Friday, when school is in session (9-month academic school year).
Pay
Base pay: $17.22 - $21.31 per hour.
