About the role
Join Dal-Tile, the largest manufacturer of tile and natural stone in the United States and a subsidiary of Mohawk Industries. As a Showroom Design Consultant, you will provide interior design and product selection advice, product expertise, and thorough follow-up to enhance the customer experience and influence sales decisions. This role uses the showroom as a key selling tool to drive specifications, sales, and brand awareness. Saturdays are required.
Responsibilities
- Provide interior design advice and product expertise to facilitate tile and stone selection, project development, and sales closure for all customers.
- Log all client showroom visits, contact information, and detailed customer preferences in CMT (Customer Management Tool).
- Communicate effectively with customers and internal team members to track leads, ensure follow-up, and close sales; report sales closures monthly.
- Prospect for new business, focusing on custom builders and residential designers; make outside sales calls and follow up on leads to grow business.
- Maintain showroom samples and merchandising, including ordering, receiving, and updating displays; ship customer examples as needed.
- Stay current on design and product offerings by maintaining contact with suppliers and locally sourced vendors; comply with Marketing’s standards for showroom merchandising.
- Plan and host showroom tours and events for industry trade to drive customer sales and build brand awareness.
- Attend outside trade events to develop industry relationships and enhance brand visibility.
Requirements
- A four-year degree in a related field, four years of related experience, or a combination of a two-year degree with two years of related experience.
- Competencies in sales, customer engagement, design (including sketching, reading blueprints, color coordination, and interior design trends), and creative thinking.
- Ability to conceptualize innovative solutions for unfamiliar situations and effectively document and sell them to clients.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and customer management tools.
- Excellent oral, written, listening, and interpersonal communication skills to build positive relationships with customers, team members, and business partners.
Working Conditions
- Regularly required to stand, use hands, reach with hands and arms, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; may occasionally sit, climb, or balance.
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts; occasional exposure to fumes or airborne particles and a wide range of temperatures.
- Noise level is usually loud.
- Evening and weekend hours are required.
