About the role

Join Dal-Tile, the largest manufacturer of tile and natural stone in the United States and a subsidiary of Mohawk Industries. As a Showroom Design Consultant, you will provide interior design and product selection advice, product expertise, and thorough follow-up to enhance customer experience and influence sales and purchasing decisions. You will use the showroom as a selling tool to drive specifications, sales, and brand awareness. Saturdays are required for this role.

Responsibilities

  • Provide interior design advice and product expertise, facilitate tile and stone selection, and support project development to ensure completion of sales for all customers.
  • Log all client showroom visits, contact information, and detailed customer preference and selection notes in CMT.
  • Communicate effectively with customers and internal team members to follow leads, ensure tracking/follow-up, and close sales. Report sales closures monthly.
  • Prospect for new business with an emphasis on Custom Builders and Residential Designers. Make outside sales calls as needed and follow up on leads to grow and drive business.
  • Maintain showroom samples and merchandising, including ordering, receiving, and managing models and displays. Ship customer examples as needed to drive sales.
  • Maintain contact with suppliers and locally sourced vendors to stay current on design and product offerings. Comply with Marketing’s standards for proper showroom merchandising, including new product launches.
  • Plan and host showroom tours and small or large events for industry trade to drive customer sales.
  • Attend outside trade events to develop industry relationships and build brand awareness.
  • Evening and weekend hours are required.

Requirements

  • A four-year degree in a related field, four years of related experience, or a combination of a two-year degree with two years of related experience.
  • Competencies in sales, customer engagement, customer service, design, sketching, reading blueprints, color coordination, interior design trends, customer buying habits, and creative thinking.
  • Ability to approach unfamiliar situations and conceptualize innovative and imaginative solutions, using creative skills to document and sell them to clients.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and customer management tools.
  • Excellent oral, written, listening, and interpersonal communication skills to effectively interact with customers, team members, management, and other internal and external partners.

Work Environment

  • Regularly required to stand, use hands, and reach with hands and arms. Must walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. May need to sit, climb, or balance.
  • May lift and move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles.
  • May be exposed to a wide range of temperatures. Noise level is usually loud.
