About the Role

We are seeking compassionate, experienced caregivers who are passionate about helping others to join our team. As a Short Shift Caregiver at Visiting Angels of Sacramento, you’ll provide care for clients throughout the local area, including Elk Grove, Sacramento, Del Paso, North Highlands, Pocket, and Greenhaven. This role offers flexibility, room for growth, and the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of senior adults in your community.

Responsibilities

• Assist clients with personal care and hygiene
• Manage light housekeeping duties
• Encourage clients to meet their exercise and fitness goals
• Prompt clients to take prescription medications at the correct times
• Assist with shopping and putting away groceries (or shop for clients)
• Plan and prepare meals in collaboration with clients, based on their abilities
• Support clients with mobility and ambulation, including doctor visits and walks
• Act quickly in medical emergencies and report health changes or unusual circumstances

Requirements

• Must be 18 years old and legally authorized to work in the U.S.
• Fully vaccinated and boosted against COVID-19 (shot record required)
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver’s license, car insurance, and a reliable personal vehicle for transporting clients
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Excellent time-management skills and ability to juggle multiple duties
• Reliable transportation to and from client homes
• Physical endurance for tasks like carrying groceries and supporting clients
• Comfort with housekeeping and cooking, including dietary constraints
• Willingness to comply with state and office-specific health and safety standards (e.g., background checks)
• Compassion, understanding, and a desire to improve clients’ lives
• Ability to use a smartphone for electronic visit verification (EVV) and caregiver notes
• Ability to pass extensive background checks, including Live Scan fingerprinting
• Negative TB screening within the last 90 days
• Registered on the California Home Care Aide Registry

Schedule

• Full-time and part-time shifts available
• 8-hour and 10-hour shifts

Pay

$19.00–$21.00 per hour, depending on availability and experience.
