About the role
This position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced dynamic environment that’s embedded in daily operations influencing daily and weekly outcomes that directly impact safety, production, and cost performance.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute short-range mine plans aligned with weekly, monthly and quarterly production targets
- Partner closely with operations, geology, and drill & blast to optimize ore recovery and movement
- Generate and reconcile end-of-month (EOM) production data and mining progress
- Monitor and analyze plan compliance (daily, weekly, monthly) and identify improvement opportunities
- Create bench plans, dig plans, and dump designs to support safe and efficient operations
- Track and report on high wall, dump, and production performance metrics
- Provide clear and competent direction to operations teams to ensure plan execution
- Drive continuous improvement through data, field presence, and cross-functional collaboration
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in mining engineering or related discipline
- 3+ years of open pit mine planning experience (planning + operations exposure strongly preferred)
- Hands-on experience with mine planning software (Deswik preferred, Vulcan or similar considered)
- Strong understanding of production environment, drill & blast, and material movement
- Able to balance technical planning with real-world operational constraints
- Sharp analytical thinking with practical, actionable solutions
- Confident communicator who can influence and align teams
- High attention to detail
Physical Requirements
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs, talk, hear and see.
- Must be able to work shift work with 12-hour shifts.
- Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) during the workday.
- Work is in a surface mine plant setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity.
- Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required.
