Shop-Yard Assistant
About the role
The Shop-Yard Assistant position at Northwest Contracting, LLC is located in Anchorage, AK. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include performing general construction yard work, light mechanical tasks, parts and material running, and operating yard equipment such as forklifts and skid steers. The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, 18 years of age or older, and the ability to work independently and learn new tasks. Preferred skills include operating forklifts, low-voc, waterborne, MMA, and other traffic marking systems.
Responsibilities
- Perform all types of general construction yard work
- Operate and maintain yard equipment such as forklifts and skid steers
- Load and unload trucks
- Clean and wash equipment
- Pick up and deliver parts to jobsites
- Perform oil changes and other mechanical tasks as directed
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Willingness to learn and operate yard equipment
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Basic mechanical skills and ability to assist mechanics with routine service tasks
Qualifications
- Age 18 or older
- Physical ability to stand, walk, and work on hard surfaces for long periods
- Ability to lift and carry 50# repeatedly
Skills
- Knowledge of Low Voc, Waterborne, MMA and other traffic marking systems
- Ability to operate forklifts, skid steers, or other light equipment
