About the role
Pillar Innovations is seeking skilled welders for a hands-on role in fabrication and machining. Ideal candidates should have 2+ years of welding and/or fabrication experience in an industrial metal shop.
Responsibilities
- Use various welding techniques to fabricate and assemble metal components with precision, following blueprints, work orders, and instructions.
- Utilize welding processes such as GMAW, GTAW, SAW, and SMAW to complete high-quality projects that meet industry standards.
- Perform structural welding using a variety of procedures, such as the groove weld, fillet weld, complete joint penetration, and partial joint penetration.
- Work in flat, vertical, or overhead positions and perform quality checks during production to ensure parts/pieces meet tolerance requirements.
- Safely and efficiently operate assigned equipment.
- Read, understand, and accurately execute work orders and quality assurance (QA) standards per job requirements.
- Tack-weld or weld components and assemblies, using welding equipment.
- Work in a fast-paced fabrication environment and be flexible to work extended hours as needed.
Requirements
- Must successfully complete a weld test required prior to employment.
- Ability to weld in either GMAW or GTAW, both preferred.
- Proficient in the use of manual plasma cutter and oxyfuel cutting torch.
- Possess knowledge of metal plate types (steel, aluminum, stainless, galvanized, etc.) sizes, and shapes (beams, channels, angles, pipe, flat bar, etc.).
- Knowledge of proper use of equipment, materials, and supplies used in an industrial shop setting.
- Ability to use measuring devices such as tape measures, squares, protractors, compasses, micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, etc.
Qualifications
- Has obtained at least 3 AWS and/or ASME certifications (Shop Welder II)
- Has obtained a combination of at least 6 AWS and/or ASME certifications in both GMAW and GTAW; a minimum of 2 of those 6 certifications must be in either GMAW or GTAW (Shop Welder III)
Skills
- Strong understanding of gas metal welding methods.
- Ability to work with a variety of materials, including steel, aluminum, stainless steel, and galvanized metals.
- Proficiency with manual plasma cutter and oxyfuel cutting torch.
- Knowledge of metal plate types and their properties.
- Ability to use measuring devices and perform quality checks.
