Shop Technician

About the role

The Shop Technician Level 1 will evaluate and repair submersible wastewater pumps (Flygt) at branch locations. This role includes mechanical and electrical troubleshooting. Product specific training will be provided. May interact with customers.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate, repair, and conduct mechanical and electrical testing of submersible wastewater pumps
• Operating industrial equipment in a shop environment such as forklift, overhead cranes, etc.
• Working with various Company provided hand and power tools
• Accurate record keeping inside Xylem’s work-order management system
• Create and maintain a safe and organized working environment and culture within the organization
• Take care of company property
• Demonstrates High Impact Culture through innovation, accountability and empowerment

Requirements

• Must be able to function in a team environment
• Usually works with direct supervision but can work independently if needed
• Travel Requirements: Some travel required (overnight stays, away from home)

Qualifications

• Education Requirements: HS diploma or equivalent
• Experience Requirements: 0 to 2 years of technical work experience, 1 year preferred
• Skills: Electrically and mechanically inclined, demonstrates critical thinking and troubleshooting ability, comprehend technical information and communicate it clearly, experience with Microsoft Office and smart devices
